Descriptions of Board Member & Committee Positions:
(1 Year as Elect, 1 Year Active Term, 1 Year as Past President)
The President-Elect shall serve for one year following the election year and then by a one year term as President and finally a one year term as Past-President. The President-Elect shall assist the President in the discharge of the President’s duties, as the President may direct, and shall perform such other duties as assigned by the President or the Board. In the absence of the President, or in the event of the President’s inability or refusal to act on a matter approved by the Board, and as instructed by a majority vote of the Board, the President-Elect shall perform the duties of the President and, when so acting, shall have all the powers of and be subject to all the restrictions on the President.
(1 Year as Elect; 2 Years as Secretary)
The Secretary-Elect shall serve for one year following the election year and then by a term of two years as Secretary. The Secretary shall have custody of the records of the Society, shall keep the minutes of the meetings of the Society and of the Council and shall notify members of all meetings.
The Treasurer is an executive position on the Board of Directors and is responsible for tracking ongoing financial events of the Society, including monitoring membership dues, paying invoices and keeping account of the cash reserves of the Society. Collection of dues is managed by the Web Master through online payment processes. The Treasurer is one of two persons able to draw on the SBI2 bank accounts (the other being the President) as necessary. Good organizational skills are needed and finance experience is preferred.
Board member (Councilor: min 4)
(3 year terms)
Councilors are active members of the Board of Directors and function to promote and critique matters relevant to the Society, such as where and when scientific meetings should be planned, expenditures such as educational offerings, membership initiatives and other opportunities to expand and strengthen the Society. Participation in committees to support the society is expected.
