Josh Bauer
Vanderbilt University
Dr. Joshua Bauer is the Director of the Vanderbilt University High-Throughput Screening (VHTS) facility and the Director of Functional Genomics Screening (FGS) and High-Content Screening (HCS) within the Vanderbilt Institute of Chemical Biology. In his role, Josh leads the VHTS team in the development of biological assays and screening platforms to identify chemical and genetic modulators of diverse molecular targets and cellular pathways with therapeutic potential. His research interests center on utilizing bioinformatics and chemical genomic approaches, including FGS and HCS, to discover novel drug targets and to elucidate the molecular and genetic mechanisms underlying cellular and patient-derived model (e.g., organoids) responses to therapeutic interventions. A primary objective of his work is to uncover innovative therapeutic strategies and identify new clinical indications.
Josh completed his PhD in pharmacology from the University of Michigan. He completed postdoctoral training in the laboratory of Dr. Jennifer Pietenpol at Vanderbilt University before joining the VHTS facility. He brings extensive expertise in pharmacology, cancer biology, and biochemistry, with a specialized focus on oncology-related FGS, HCS, and chemical and drug library screening.
