Ilya Goldberg

ViQi Inc

Dr. Ilya Goldberg is the Chief Science Officer at ViQi where he leads the development of high-throughput imaging assays using AIs and machine learning technology.

Prior to ViQi, Ilya co-founded a company that developed the first medical device to receive regulatory clearance for using an AI to help diagnose lung cancer in CT screening exams. Prior to this, Ilya led a research group at the NIH National Institute on Aging, where his group developed machine learning software for image processing in biology and medicine, and studied the molecular mechanisms of aging in humans and model organisms.

Ilya earned his BS in Biochemistry from the University of Madison, his PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and completed two postdocs in Crystallography at Harvard and in Image Informatics at MIT. While at MIT, Ilya co-founded the OME project which continues to be used for imaging infrastructure in large image repositories. He has over 60 peer-reviewed scientific articles in molecular and cell biology, pattern recognition, image informatics, and the basic biology of aging.
